“Thrift is Hip! and “Thrift with Heart” are two phrases we live by here at St. Vincent de Paul of Tacoma, Pierce County. Our Thrift Store located on South 56th off of South Tacoma Way carries an abundance of gently used treasures waiting to be discovered. When shopping with us, here are some of the powers of thrift to keep in mind!  

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle   

As many may know, thrifting is a fantastic way to help the environment. When thrifting with us, you are able to reuse and repurpose items, giving a variety of gently used goods a second chance at a new home. This simple act diverts millions of pounds from the landfill each year. All in all, purchasing items second-hand can help reduce your carbon footprint, conserve water usage, decrease air pollution and lower overall waste.    

Donations that cannot be sold in our Thrift Store are recycled. In 2021, we recycled more than 23,800 lbs. of clothing, electronics and more!  

Thrift with Heart!  

You may know us for our Thrift Store, but our mission is much broader. Proceeds from our Thrift Store supports our mission to help our neighbors in need and our Homeless Prevention & Basic Needs Program. Last year, we provided more than $680,000 in direct financial assistance to help more than 12,500 of our neighbors in need. The assistance provided comes in many forms such as gas vouchers, utility payments, short-term motel stays, rental deposits and much more. We also provide nearly $90,000 in in-kind vouchers to our thrift store to supply clothing and household goods to our neighbors in need.  

When you thrift with us, you're guaranteed to be helping members in your community. Supporting St. Vinnies and our programs is as easy as shopping at our Thrift Store or donating your gently used goods.

Thrifty Finds  

Whether you’re in a pinch, sticking to a budget or simply wanting to find great deals, our Thrift Store is the perfect solution. We offer fair prices on a variety of goods for your home, closet, garden and more. We have daily sales ranging from 20% to 40% off, with many clothing items marked for only $1.99! In addition, we offer a 10% discount to senior citizens and military members and family, every day!

Part of the fun of thrifting is discovering unique, one-of-a-kind items. At St. Vinnies, we're continuously adding new treasures to the retail floor every day that are waiting to be found. Between our retail floor and the outdoor retail ‘yard’ we offer two acres of shopping bonanza! There is no telling what you will score!
