St. Vinnies’ Spring Cleaning Donation Guide
Spring is here! With the hopes of creating a fresh beginning for the new season, many of us leap into spring cleaning mode. Throughout the decluttering and organizing process, you may end up with furniture, clothing, household goods and other items you’re ready to part with. At St. Vinnies, we’re here to help take your pre-loved items off your hands. Check out our guide that covers everything you need to know about donating to our Tacoma Thrift Store!
Toss or Donate?
As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man's treasure. Though this is true, and we love giving items a second chance, there are certain circumstances when it’s better to toss the item instead of donating it. Here are some general guidelines for when an item should be tossed:
There’s a stain or hole
It is falling apart
You wouldn’t be okay lending the item to a friend
It smells of cigarette smoke or mothballs
Review What Can Be Donated
Before you pack up your donations and head to our store, be sure to check that you are able to donate everything. While a variety of goods are accepted at our Tacoma Thrift Store including clothing, furniture, electronics, garden tools and more, there are items that we do not accept such as pressed-board furniture and printers. We ask that the accepted donations be clean and in sellable condition.

Donation Drop-Off
The Donation Station is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm to drop off your gently used goods. When dropping off donations, follow the arrows and be sure to wait at the stop signs until a member of our team motions you to pull forward. Once it’s your turn, you’ll be greeted by our Processing Team, and from there, they will have your car unloaded in a jiffy. Be sure to keep your boxes and bags open so we can take a look at your donations. Please note that acceptance of all items is at the discretion of the Thrift Store attendant.
Donation Pick-Up
While we no longer provide donation pick-up services, we’re partnered with ReSupply who can assist! If you have donations, large or small, you’d like to be picked up, you can directly connect with ReSupply. Simply click the button below to get a quote and schedule a donation pick-up!
Benefits of Donating to St. Vinnies
There’s nothing that beats that feeling of a freshly organized and clean home, but in addition, when you donate your gently used goods to our Tacoma Thrift Store, you can also feel great knowing you’re making a difference in your community! Donations and proceeds from our retail store help to support our neighbors in need. In 2022 alone, we provided $90,267 in in-kind vouchers to our Thrift Store. This allowed our neighbors going through a difficult time to secure basic necessities like clothing, sleeping bags and shoes.
We’re ready to rehome any items that no longer work for you. Remember to keep St. Vinnies in mind when you start your spring cleaning!
